The VALUE COLLECTION 720-4312 is a double-end, four-flute square end mill designed for milling flat surfaces, slots, and shoulders in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Ground from M2 high speed steel and left uncoated with a bright finish, it delivers consistent cutting performance in general-purpose machining applications. The tool measures 5/32 inch (0.1563 inches) in diameter with a 1/4 inch length of cut, a 3/16 inch shank diameter, and a 2 inch overall length. The stub-length configuration provides added rigidity for light-duty contouring and profiling passes on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for job shops, tool rooms, and maintenance machining environments where a compact, double-end tool reduces per-edge cost. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into workpiece material without a pre-drilled hole. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation in both climb and conventional milling. It is appropriate for use in steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials at standard HSS-compatible surface speeds.
Designed as a general-purpose fractional-inch end mill compatible with standard 3/16 inch collets and ER-style toolholders used on manual knee mills, CNC vertical machining centers, and similar machine tools.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an E-stop or locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the 3/16 inch shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and tighten to the toolholder manufacturer specification before engaging the spindle. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping or wear before each use, as M2 HSS is susceptible to damage from interrupted cuts at excessive feed rates. A licensed or trained machinist should verify speeds, feeds, and depth of cut before running the tool in production.
