The VALUE COLLECTION 720-4040 is a 4-flute, double-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from M2 high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it offers a 13/32-inch (0.4063-inch) cutting diameter and a 1-inch length of cut. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation during peripheral and slot milling. The double-end design extends tool life by providing two usable cutting ends. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians working on manual or CNC mills will find this a dependable general-duty end mill for ferrous and non-ferrous stock removal.
This end mill is suited for light to moderate slot milling, profiling, and contouring on milling machines where a standard fractional-inch shank is required. The 1/2-inch shank diameter fits common collet chucks and end mill holders found in most job shop and maintenance machining setups. With a regular-length profile and 4-1/8-inch overall length, it is appropriate for setups where extended reach is not needed and rigidity is a priority. This tool is not center-cutting and is intended for peripheral and side cutting applications rather than plunge operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use end mill for milling machines accepting a 1/2-inch shank end mill holder or collet. Part of the VCDE-HSS-4 series of fractional-inch double-end high speed steel end mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified engagement depth, and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. This tool is not center-cutting and must not be used for plunge milling operations.
