The Value Collection 720-3511 is a single-end, 4-flute square end mill designed for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals in machining centers and manual milling machines. Built from M2 high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 2.5-inch length of cut and a 4.625-inch overall length. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry provides efficient chip evacuation and consistent cutting action across slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The long-series designation offers extended reach for deeper pockets and step milling where standard-length tooling falls short. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tooling.
This end mill suits general-purpose milling work in job shops, production machining environments, and toolroom applications. Its 5/8-inch shank diameter matches standard ER and straight-bore collet chucks common in vertical machining centers and Bridgeport-style knee mills. The uncoated M2 HSS construction makes it a straightforward, cost-effective choice for cutting mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials at moderate speeds and feeds. It is not center-cutting, so it requires a pre-drilled hole or ramp entry for plunge operations.
Designed for use in standard 5/8-inch straight-bore collets and ER collet chucks on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC milling machines. Verify spindle runout and collet condition before use to maintain dimensional accuracy.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down the spindle and engage the machine lock before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention nut to the chuck manufacturer specification. Confirm tool length offset in the machine controller before running the first pass. Do not use damaged or worn collets, as excessive runout will shorten tool life and degrade surface finish.
