The VALUE COLLECTION 720-1668 is a double-end, two-flute square end mill designed for milling operations on ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces. Built from M2 high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it measures 3/16 inches in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut and a 3-3/8 inch overall length. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry into the workpiece. This tool is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on manual mills and CNC machining centers where a long-series, fractional-inch end mill is required.
The 720-1668 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life before replacement is needed. The long-series length gives added reach for deeper features or setups where standard-length tooling cannot access the workpiece geometry. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling on typical vertical machining setups.
Designed for use with standard 3/16 inch collets or end mill holders on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys per ISO material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked or e-stopped state. Seat the 3/16 inch shank fully and evenly in the collet or holder and torque the retention nut to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, particularly on the leading end. Double-end tools should be tracked so the second end is put into service only after the first end is confirmed dull or damaged.
