The VALUE COLLECTION 720-1517 is a single-end, square-profile end mill designed for material removal, slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. Ground from M2 high speed steel and left uncoated, it offers a bright finish suited for applications where coating is unnecessary or undesirable. The 3/8-inch diameter cutter carries two flutes with a 37-degree helix angle, producing a geometry optimized for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. At 4.25 inches overall length with a 2.5-inch length of cut, this is an extra-long configuration providing extended reach into deep pockets or stepped features. Machinists and tooling professionals specify this style for manual mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers running non-ferrous workpieces.
This end mill is designed primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, where the 37-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces built-up edge. The extra-long length of cut of 2.5 inches makes it suitable for deep-pocket milling, side milling of tall workpiece features, and profiling passes where a standard-length tool cannot reach. The 3/8-inch straight shank fits standard collets and end mill holders on both manual and CNC equipment. Center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry into material without a pre-drilled hole.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool for milling machines and machining centers accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank end mill holder or collet. Primary workpiece material compatibility is aluminum and non-ferrous metals per the manufacturer material code N designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder or collet. Set tool runout and stick-out to the minimum required for the operation to maximize rigidity, especially given the extra-long length. Verify correct collet size and clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification before operation.
