The VALUE COLLECTION 705254PR is a socket set screw in 8-32 UNC thread with a 3/8-inch overall length and an oval point tip. It is driven with a 5/64-inch hex key and is manufactured from austenitic stainless steel meeting Material Grade A2 designation. The oval point geometry seats into a shallow indentation on the mating shaft to resist axial and rotational movement without marring the surface as aggressively as a cup or cone point. This fastener conforms to ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F880 dimensional and mechanical standards. Maintenance technicians, machinists, and assembly professionals install this type of fastener where corrosion resistance and a recessed, flush-finish hold-down are required.
This set screw is suited for light-duty shaft-collar, pulley, knob, and hub retention applications in environments where moisture or mild chemical exposure rules out carbon steel fasteners. Typical use cases include HVAC blower wheel collar retention, plumbing fixture knob assemblies, electrical enclosure hardware, and general industrial machine assembly where a small-diameter, fine-pitch screw with corrosion resistance is specified. The minimum order quantity is 100 pieces per order, with packaging quantity of 1 per package unit as supplied.
Designed for use in any application requiring an 8-32 UNC tapped through-hole or blind hole accepting a 3/8-inch overall length socket set screw per ASME/ANSI B18.3.
Installation requires a calibrated 5/64-inch hex key or hex bit driver; using an incorrect or worn key risks rounding the drive recess. Ensure the mating shaft or component has a pre-drilled seating dimple when using an oval point to achieve the designed holding force. De-energize or lock out any rotating shaft or assembly before installing or removing set screws per applicable safety procedures. A thread-locking compound rated for stainless fasteners may be used if vibration loosening is a concern, as A2 stainless has a lower galling resistance than carbon steel and benefits from anti-galling lubricant or compound during assembly.
