The VALUE COLLECTION 6BN4X4 is a stainless steel pipe nipple manufactured to Schedule 40 wall thickness with National Pipe Taper (NPT) threading on both ends. Pipe nipples serve as short threaded connectors used to join sections of pipe or to connect pipe to fittings, valves, and equipment in fluid and gas distribution systems. The Schedule 40 rating indicates a standard pressure-bearing wall thickness suitable for a wide range of plumbing, mechanical, and industrial piping applications. The stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance in wet, chemical-exposure, or sanitary environments where carbon steel would be unsuitable.
This pipe nipple is suited for use in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, industrial process piping, and mechanical rooms where NPT-threaded connections are standard. Stainless steel nipples are commonly specified in food-service, pharmaceutical, marine, and corrosive-environment installations. The NPT thread standard ensures compatibility with the broad range of threaded fittings and valves found in North American piping systems. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for any Schedule 40 NPT-threaded piping system requiring a stainless steel close or short nipple connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASME B31 piping standards. Shut off and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the NPT threads before making up the joint — do not overtighten, as stainless steel threads are susceptible to galling. Confirm the system is leak-free under operating pressure before returning to service.
