The VALUE COLLECTION 625-1040 is a magnetic indicator base designed to hold dial indicators, test indicators, and similar precision measuring instruments securely during use. The base features a flexible arm that allows the user to position the indicator at virtually any angle, making it well suited for setup, inspection, and alignment work on machine tools, surface plates, and workholding fixtures. The magnetic base generates 40 kg of holding force, providing a stable, vibration-resistant mount on ferrous surfaces. At 2.125 inches long, 2 inches wide, and approximately 2.3 inches tall, the compact footprint fits in tight spaces without interfering with workpiece access. Holders are included. The unit weighs 3.42 pounds.
This magnetic indicator base is used in machining, fabrication, and precision metrology applications where a repeatable, rigid indicator mount is required. Typical installations include lathe and mill setups for runout checks, surface plate layout, and bore alignment tasks. The flexible arm adjusts to reach awkward measurement positions without repositioning the base. The on/off magnetic switch allows the base to be repositioned quickly without disturbing the workpiece or machine setup. Suitable for job shop, production floor, and tool room environments.
Designed as a general-purpose magnetic indicator base compatible with standard dial indicators and test indicators that use conventional stem or dovetail mounting. Verify indicator stem diameter against included holders before installation.
Position the base on a clean, flat ferrous surface free of chips, coolant, and debris before engaging the magnetic switch to ensure full holding force. Engage and disengage the magnetic switch only when the arm is in a relaxed, non-loaded position to avoid sudden movement of the indicator. Adjust the flexible arm gradually and lock all joints firmly before taking measurements. Periodic inspection of the magnetic base surface for corrosion or damage is recommended to maintain rated holding force.
