The VALUE COLLECTION 6240CGNFG is a 5/8-11 UNC carriage bolt with a 2-1/2 inch length under head and a square neck, manufactured from Grade 1006-1050 steel with a galvanized zinc-plated finish. Carriage bolts are designed for through-bolting applications where a smooth, rounded head is required on one face and rotation resistance is provided by the square neck seating into the mating material. This fastener meets ASME B18.5 standards and is fully threaded. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC mechanics, and general tradespeople commonly use carriage bolts when securing equipment, structural members, or mounting brackets where a flush head profile is needed.
This bolt is suited for both light structural and equipment-mounting applications across residential and commercial job sites. The galvanized zinc-plated finish provides corrosion resistance, making it appropriate for use in mechanical rooms, utility areas, and similar environments where moisture exposure is a factor. The fully threaded shank allows for maximum engagement along the fastener length, which is useful when connecting thinner materials or when nut positioning needs to be flexible along the bolt.
Designed as a standard inch-system carriage bolt compatible with 5/8-11 UNC nuts, washers, and hardware conforming to ASME B18.5 specifications.
Carriage bolts are typically installed by inserting the bolt through a pre-drilled hole and seating the square neck firmly into the material to prevent spinning, then threading a nut and washer on the opposite side and tightening with a wrench or socket. De-energize and lock out any electrical or mechanical equipment before fastening hardware to panels, enclosures, or structural supports. Follow applicable building codes and torque requirements specified by the equipment manufacturer or structural engineer for the application. Inspect the galvanized coating for damage before installation in corrosive environments.
