The VALUE COLLECTION 612-5908 is a dial bore gage set designed for measuring internal bore diameters across a wide range of sizes. The set covers a minimum measuring range of 0.7 to 1.5 inches using screw-to-style anvils and extends further with additional plug-to-style anvils included in the kit. A total of 8 anvils are provided, allowing technicians to measure bores from 0.7 inches through 16 inches without switching to a different tool system. A dial indicator is included, and the full kit ships in a plastic storage case for organized storage and transport. This gage is used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-room professionals who require repeatable inside diameter measurements.
This dial bore gage set is suited for shop-floor and maintenance applications where bore sizing, wear measurement, or fit verification is required on cylindrical bores. The screw-to-style anvils with 0.1-inch step increments address the lower range from 0.7 to 1.5 inches. The plug-to-style anvils extend coverage through five additional ranges: 1.4 to 2.4 inches, 2 to 4 inches, 2 to 6 inches, 6 to 10 inches, and 10 to 16 inches. This breadth of coverage makes the set appropriate for general-purpose inspection work across engine bores, hydraulic cylinders, pump housings, and similar components.
Designed as a general-purpose dial bore gage set suitable for measuring cylindrical bores in a wide range of mechanical components where inside diameter inspection is required.
Dial bore gages are set up and used by machinists or precision measurement technicians. Before use, zero the dial indicator against a known ring gage or micrometer set to the nominal bore diameter. Select the correct anvil for the bore range being measured and ensure the anvil is fully seated and locked before taking a reading. Do not force the gage into a bore that is outside the selected anvil range, as this can damage the indicator mechanism.
