The VALUE COLLECTION 601227PR is a cup point set screw designed for secure, non-permanent fastening in mechanical assemblies. Manufactured from alloy steel, this fully threaded headless fastener bites into a mating surface to lock shafts, collars, gears, and similar components in place without protruding above the workpiece. It drives with a 1/8-inch hex key and meets ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F912 standards. At 2-3/4 inches overall length with a 1/4-20 UNC thread, it suits applications requiring deeper thread engagement than standard-length fasteners provide.
This set screw is used across a wide range of mechanical, industrial, and equipment maintenance applications wherever a shaft or component must be fixed to a hub or bore. Typical installations include motor shaft collars, pulley assemblies, pump couplings, and HVAC equipment drive components. It is installed by maintenance technicians and mechanical contractors working on rotating equipment and power transmission systems.
Designed as a standard inch-series set screw for use in any 1/4-20 UNC tapped hole requiring a cup point headless fastener with 2-3/4 inches of thread engagement.
Set screws are installed by mechanics and maintenance technicians using a 1/8-inch hex key torqued to the assembly manufacturer's specification. Always de-energize and lock out rotating equipment before servicing shaft collars or drive components. Ensure the tapped hole is clean and free of debris before threading in the fastener. Do not substitute a damaged or undersized hex key, as rounding the drive socket will complicate removal.
