The VALUE COLLECTION 601-4025 is a mechanical outside micrometer designed for precise linear measurement in machining, fabrication, and dimensional inspection work. It features a 0.01 inch graduation and a ratchet stop thimble that delivers consistent measuring pressure across repeated measurements, reducing operator-to-operator variation. The measuring faces are constructed from solid carbide for extended wear resistance. A satin chrome coating on the frame resists corrosion and reduces glare in shop environments. This tool is suited for machinists, tool-and-die techs, and precision fabricators who require reliable hand-tool measurement without digital readout.
The 601-4025 is appropriate for general-purpose outside measurement tasks in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance environments. The ratchet stop thimble mechanism makes it well-suited for production inspection where repeated measurements must be taken at consistent clamping force. It is used on workpieces where a mechanical readout is preferred over digital, or where battery dependency is not acceptable. No digital counter is included, keeping the instrument straightforward and low-maintenance.
Designed as a general-purpose mechanical outside micrometer for use across standard outside-diameter measurement applications in machine shop and fabrication settings.
Outside micrometers are hand measurement tools and do not require installation in a mechanical system. Before use, verify the zero setting with the spindle fully closed and adjust the thimble if necessary using the included spanner wrench or adjustment nut per standard calibration procedure. Store the micrometer with the spindle slightly open to prevent thermal expansion damage to the measuring faces. Cleaning the anvil and spindle faces before each measurement session helps maintain accuracy and extends carbide face life.
