The VALUE COLLECTION 582-120XSBC is a Schedule 80 black pipe nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical piping systems. Measuring 3/8 inch in diameter and 12 inches in length, this nipple connects threaded fittings and valves in close-quarter or straight-run configurations. The black finish coating is standard for natural gas and steam distribution lines where galvanized pipe is not required. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure tolerance and mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40, making it suitable for higher-demand applications. Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters using standard pipe wrenches and thread sealant.
This nipple is used in residential and light commercial piping systems for gas supply lines, steam distribution, and general-purpose black iron pipe assemblies. The 3/8 inch size is commonly found in branch lines, burner connections, and low-pressure gas piping. At 12 inches in length, it suits moderate-distance runs where a close nipple or short nipple would be insufficient. Plumbers and HVAC technicians installing gas appliances, boilers, and unit heaters regularly use this size and schedule in their roughed-in piping configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for Schedule 80 black iron threaded pipe systems using 3/8 inch NPT fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC) as applicable. Shut off and depressurize the gas or fluid supply before disassembling or extending any threaded pipe section. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all male threads before assembly. Inspect threads for damage before installation and do not force-thread fittings that do not engage smoothly.
