The VALUE COLLECTION 581-090XSBC is a Schedule 80 seamless black pipe nipple used in threaded piping systems for gas, air, water, and general industrial fluid service. Measuring 1/4 inch nominal diameter and 9 inches in length, it is manufactured without a longitudinal weld seam, giving it greater wall thickness and pressure tolerance than standard Schedule 40 fittings. The black finish indicates an uncoated carbon steel surface suited for gas distribution and similar non-corrosive service lines. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install these nipples as close or extension connectors in threaded pipe assemblies.
This nipple is appropriate for residential and light commercial piping applications including natural gas and propane supply lines, compressed air drops, and steam or hydronic heating systems where Schedule 80 wall thickness is required by code or design specification. Its 9-inch length makes it suitable for stubout extensions and branch connections where a close or short nipple would fall short. Standard NPT threading on both ends allows direct connection to fittings, valves, and equipment ports without adapters.
Designed as a standard NPT-threaded Schedule 80 black pipe nipple compatible with 1/4 inch threaded pipe fittings, valves, and couplings used in gas, air, and general fluid piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, IFGC requirements for gas piping, or ASME B31 standards for pressure piping. Shut off the gas or fluid supply and verify zero pressure before disassembling or threading any connection. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium — do not use standard thread tape on gas lines unless it is specifically rated for gas service. Inspect threads for damage before assembly and avoid cross-threading, which can compromise joint integrity.
