The VALUE COLLECTION 533010PR is an M3 x 0.50 x 12 mm cup point set screw manufactured from alloy steel to Grade 14.9 (45H). Set screws of this type are fully threaded, headless fasteners used to secure a component — such as a collar, gear, or pulley — against a shaft by applying direct axial force through the cup point. The hex drive socket accepts a 1.5 mm hex key. Conforming to DIN 916, this fastener meets a recognized international standard for socket set screws with cup points. Maintenance technicians, millwrights, and mechanical assembly professionals install these in light machinery, HVAC equipment linkages, and precision component assemblies.
This set screw is suited for metric-threaded applications requiring a secure, recessed drive fastener with a cup point that bites into the mating surface to resist rotation and axial movement. Typical applications include shaft-to-hub locking on small motors, fan blade hubs, and adjustment mechanisms found in commercial and residential HVAC systems, as well as general industrial and mechanical assemblies. The M3 x 0.50 thread pitch and 12 mm overall length make it appropriate for light-duty to medium-duty clamping loads where a low-profile, flush-mount fastener is required.
Designed as an OEM-style or replacement set screw for any metric-threaded M3 x 0.50 tapped hole requiring a DIN 916 cup point socket set screw in alloy steel.
Installation requires a 1.5 mm hex key or Allen driver; use a calibrated torque driver where the assembly specifies a torque value. De-energize and lock out any equipment before accessing rotating shafts or mechanical assemblies per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the tapped hole is clean and free of debris before threading to avoid cross-threading the M3 x 0.50 thread form. Do not use impact tools on small-diameter set screws, as this can damage the hex socket or strip the threads.
