The VALUE COLLECTION 530-4248 is a 5C square steel collet designed for use in 5C collet chucks and closers on lathes, indexers, and rotary fixtures. This collet accepts 3/4-inch square workpieces and holds them with a total indicator runout (TIR) of 0.0005 inches, providing the repeatable, precise workholding that precision turning and milling operations demand. Constructed from steel, the 530-4248 features an internal thread size of 1.041 inches-24 and an external thread size of 1.242 inches-20, conforming to standard 5C collet geometry for direct drop-in use on compatible spindles. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this collet in production and job-shop environments where consistent grip on square stock is required.
This collet is suited for use in manual and CNC lathes, collet blocks, spin indexers, and other 5C-compatible workholding equipment. It is appropriate for light to medium-duty turning, facing, and secondary operations on square bar stock up to 3/4 inch. The square bore geometry prevents workpiece rotation during machining, making it a common choice for operations that require indexed or oriented clamping on square material in both production and prototype settings.
Designed as a standard 5C-specification square collet for use in any 5C collet chuck, collet closer, spin indexer, or collet block that accepts the 1.242 inches-20 external thread standard.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before installing or removing the collet, power down the machine and ensure the spindle has come to a complete stop. Thread the collet into the closer or chuck by hand first to confirm clean thread engagement before applying a collet wrench. Inspect the collet bore and workpiece surfaces for chips or burrs prior to clamping, as contamination directly affects runout and workholding accuracy.
