The VALUE COLLECTION 45106050 is a galvanized steel shortway duct reducer designed to transition round duct from a 6-inch inside diameter down to a 5-inch inside diameter. Built without a crimp end, this fitting allows for a clean slip connection on both ends, suitable for use in residential and light commercial HVAC duct systems. Galvanized construction provides corrosion resistance in standard air-handling environments. At 0.5 pounds, the fitting is lightweight and easy to handle during installation. HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors use this type of fitting to step down duct diameter where airflow is redistributed across branch runs.
This shortway reducer is suited for round galvanized ductwork installations where a compact, straight reduction is needed between main trunk lines and branch ducts. The shortway profile keeps the fitting length minimal, which is useful in tight mechanical spaces or ceiling plenums. The absence of a crimp on the outlet end accommodates field crimping or allows the installer to choose the connection method appropriate for the adjacent duct section or collar.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for round galvanized ductwork systems requiring a concentric diameter reduction from 6 inches to 5 inches.
Installation should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician or licensed sheet metal contractor in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and applicable local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling unit and confirm the system is depressurized before cutting into or modifying existing ductwork. Secure the fitting with sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-listed mastic or foil tape to maintain system pressure integrity. Do not install in return-air applications where the fitting would be exposed to moisture levels beyond the rated capacity of standard galvanized material.
