The VALUE COLLECTION 447-040 is a 4-inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe end cap designed to terminate the open end of a PVC pipe run. Constructed from PVC material, this fitting accepts a slip connection, allowing it to be solvent-welded directly onto the pipe end for a secure, leak-resistant seal. At 1.17 pounds, it is lightweight and easy to handle on the job. End caps of this type are standard components in drain, waste, vent, and low-pressure water distribution systems. Plumbers and pipefitters install these fittings when capping off unused branch lines, plugging pipe ends during pressure testing, or completing a terminal pipe run.
This end cap is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where Schedule 40 PVC pipe is specified. Common installation scenarios include capping branch lines in DWV systems, sealing irrigation laterals, and terminating cold-water supply stubs. The slip connection style requires solvent cement and primer for a code-compliant joint. This fitting is sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 4-inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe systems in residential and commercial plumbing installations.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Before installing, shut off the water supply and depressurize the line completely. Clean and deburr the pipe end, apply the appropriate PVC primer, and then apply solvent cement to both the pipe and fitting socket before joining. Follow local plumbing code requirements, including IPC guidelines, for joint cure time before returning the system to service.
