The VALUE COLLECTION 438-167 is a Schedule 40 PVC pipe bushing used to reduce a 1-1/4-inch female fitting down to a 3/4-inch male connection. The slip end inserts into a socket fitting and is solvent-welded in place, while the female iron pipe thread (FIPT) end accepts a threaded male adapter or fitting. PVC construction makes this bushing resistant to corrosion and suitable for low-pressure water distribution, irrigation, and drain-waste-vent applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing wherever a reducer is needed between mismatched fitting sizes in non-pressurized or low-pressure PVC piping systems.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation systems, and industrial piping where PVC Schedule 40 fittings are specified. It connects a 1-1/4-inch slip socket on the larger end to a 3/4-inch FIPT connection on the smaller end, enabling size transitions without additional adapters. Typical installations include water supply lines, pool and spa plumbing, and landscape irrigation manifolds where schedule 40 PVC is the standard material of record.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 PVC piping systems using standard slip and female iron pipe thread connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with local plumbing codes and ASTM D2466 standards for Schedule 40 PVC fittings. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Use an approved PVC primer and solvent cement on the slip end per manufacturer instructions, and ensure threads on the FIPT end are clean and sealed with PTFE tape or pipe thread sealant rated for PVC before tightening. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as PVC threads can crack under excess force.
