The VALUE COLLECTION 436-060 is a Schedule 40 PVC male adapter fitting designed for use in pressure piping systems where a threaded male connection must transition to a plain-end slip socket. The fitting measures 6 inches in size and features MIPT (Male Iron Pipe Thread) on one end and a slip socket on the other, allowing it to join threaded pipe or fittings to a solvent-weld PVC pipe run. At 2.1 pounds, the fitting is solid and suited for both above-ground and below-grade installations. PVC construction makes it resistant to corrosion and chemical attack in standard plumbing, irrigation, and light industrial applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers.
This adapter is used in residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation distribution, and industrial process piping where Schedule 40 PVC is the specified pipe material. The MIPT x slip configuration is a common transition point between threaded metallic or PVC fittings and a solvent-weld PVC mainline. It is appropriate for cold and ambient-temperature water service within the pressure ratings of Schedule 40 PVC at the installed diameter. The 6-inch size is frequently found in main distribution lines, pump discharge headers, and municipal-style service connections.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fitment fitting for Schedule 40 PVC piping systems using 6-inch nominal pipe diameter with MIPT x slip end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before cutting into any existing line. The slip end requires proper PVC primer and solvent cement applied per the cement manufacturer instructions; the MIPT end should be wrapped with PTFE thread tape or pipe thread sealant rated for PVC before assembly. Do not overtighten the threaded connection, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque.
