The VALUE COLLECTION 42940 is a metric cup point set screw designed for clamping and positioning applications where a recessed fastener is required. Manufactured from alloy steel to Grade 14.9 (45H), this screw delivers high tensile and torsional strength suited to demanding industrial and mechanical assemblies. The M8 x 1.25 thread with a 12 mm overall length fits standard metric bores, and the 4 mm hex key drive allows precise torque application in confined spaces. Each package contains 50 pieces, conforming to DIN 916 fastener standard. Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers working with shafts, collars, and similar components.
Cup point set screws are used across a wide range of assemblies including shaft-to-hub connections, set collars, pulleys, gears, and couplings in both light industrial and heavy mechanical environments. The cup point geometry bites into the mating surface to resist rotation and axial movement without requiring a through-hole. This M8 size is common in mid-range mechanical assemblies where compact fastening with high holding force is needed. Suitable for use in manufacturing, maintenance, and fabrication settings.
Designed as a DIN 916 metric cup point set screw for use in M8 x 1.25 threaded bores in shaft collars, couplings, pulleys, gears, and similar mechanical components requiring a flush or recessed fastener.
Installation is performed using a 4 mm hex key; ensure the mating shaft and threaded bore are clean and free of burrs before driving the screw. De-energize and lock out any equipment before servicing assemblies containing these fasteners. Do not exceed the rated torque range appropriate for Grade 14.9 alloy steel M8 fasteners as specified by applicable engineering standards. Inspect the cup point for deformation after removal if the fastener is being reused.
