The VALUE COLLECTION 429-3106 is a 10-inch diameter, 3-jaw, self-centering manual lathe chuck designed for general-purpose turning operations on manual lathes. The body is constructed from cast iron for rigidity and vibration damping during cuts. It mounts directly to the lathe spindle via a D1-6 camlock interface, allowing for fast, repeatable mounting without adapter plates. The reversible two-piece jaws extend the chuck's workholding range, accommodating both standard outside-diameter gripping and larger-bore or irregularly shaped workpieces. A 70.00 mm (2.7559 inches) through-hole diameter allows bar stock to pass through the spindle for collet-style or long-stock operations. This chuck weighs 82 pounds and requires appropriate lifting equipment during installation.
This chuck is suited for use in manual machining environments including job shops, maintenance and repair operations, and vocational or industrial training facilities. It is appropriate for workholding on engine lathes with D1-6 spindle noses. The self-centering scroll mechanism allows machinists to grip round, hex, and square stock quickly without the need for individual jaw adjustment. The reversible jaw configuration makes it practical for both small-diameter bar stock and larger-diameter chuck work within the 10-inch capacity range.
Designed for direct mounting on manual engine lathes equipped with a D1-6 camlock spindle nose. Verify spindle nose designation on the lathe headstock before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with lathe spindle nose standards. Power down and lock out the lathe before mounting or removing the chuck. At 82 pounds, use a chuck cradle, hoist, or two-person lift to position the chuck safely onto the spindle — do not attempt single-person installation without mechanical assistance. Inspect all camlock studs and the spindle face for cleanliness and damage before seating the chuck.
