The VALUE COLLECTION 418-4916 is a machined cast iron angle plate used for precision fixturing, layout, and inspection work on machine tools, surface plates, and milling setups. It measures 16 inches wide, 9 inches deep, and 12 inches high, and weighs 72 pounds. The plate features a slotted surface with through-slots for workpiece clamping and a double-web construction that adds rigidity under load. Parallelism and squareness are both held to 0.005 inches, making this plate suitable for applications where accurate right-angle reference is required. Machinists, toolmakers, and metrology technicians are the primary users.
This angle plate is used in machine shops and manufacturing environments for workholding during milling, drilling, boring, and grinding operations. It is also used on surface plates for inspection and layout tasks where a true 90-degree reference face is needed. The double-web design distributes clamping forces evenly, reducing deflection when heavy or irregularly shaped workpieces are secured. This is a single plate, sold individually, and is appropriate for general-purpose shop use as well as more demanding toolroom applications.
Designed as a general-purpose machined angle plate for use with standard machine tool tables, surface plates, and inspection fixtures requiring a 90-degree reference surface.
Angle plates of this weight class should be handled with appropriate lifting equipment or two-person lifts to avoid injury. Mounting surfaces should be clean and free of burrs before placing the plate to ensure full contact and accurate seating. Secure the plate to the machine table or surface plate using appropriate T-bolts or clamps rated for the load. Inspect the plate periodically for nicks or damage on reference faces that could affect accuracy.
