The VALUE COLLECTION 40543 is a Grade 8 alloy steel set screw with a knurled cup point, designed for high-strength clamping and locking applications in mechanical assemblies. The 3/8-16 UNC thread and 1-inch overall length make this a widely used fastener size in industrial and trade work. Driven by a 3/16-inch hex key, the knurled cup point bites into the mating surface to resist rotation and axial movement without requiring a traditional bolt head. This package contains 25 screws, meeting ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F912 standards.
This set screw is used in shaft-collar, gear-hub, and pulley-locking applications across HVAC equipment, mechanical drive systems, and general industrial machinery. It is appropriate for both light-duty and moderate-load assemblies where a flush or recessed fastener is required. The knurled cup point provides a positive bite that suits installations where vibration or cyclic loading is a concern. Machinists, millwrights, and HVAC technicians commonly install this type of fastener.
Designed as a standard-dimension set screw for any application requiring a 3/8-16 UNC threaded socket set screw with a 1-inch overall length and knurled cup point per ASME/ANSI B18.3.
Installation requires a 3/16-inch hex key or Allen driver. Ensure the mating tapped hole is clean and free of debris before threading the screw in. Apply appropriate thread-locking compound if vibration is expected and the application permits it. De-energize and lock out any equipment before accessing shaft or drive assemblies.
