The VALUE COLLECTION 40506 is an 8-32 x 1/4 inch alloy steel set screw with a knurled cup point, sold in a pack of 50. Set screws are headless fasteners used to lock a component, such as a pulley, collar, or gear, against a shaft by applying direct pressure at the point. The knurled cup point bites into the mating surface for a secure hold that resists rotation and axial movement. Driven with a 5/64 inch hex key, this screw meets ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F912 standards. Grade 8 alloy steel construction provides high tensile strength suitable for demanding mechanical assemblies.
This set screw is used across a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical applications including HVAC blower assemblies, motor shaft collars, fan hubs, and general industrial equipment. The UNC thread form is standard in North American trade applications. Pack quantity of 50 makes it practical for service technicians and maintenance crews who install or replace multiple fasteners per job. Electricians, HVAC technicians, and millwrights commonly stock this size for field repairs and equipment rebuilds.
Designed as a standard 8-32 UNC set screw for use in any application requiring a headless hex-drive fastener with a knurled cup point in alloy steel at Grade 8.
Installation requires a 5/64 inch hex key or ball-end driver. De-energize and lock out any equipment before servicing shaft-mounted components. Ensure the mating shaft surface is clean and free of debris before seating the screw. Do not over-drive — seat the screw until the cup point is firmly engaged with the shaft material without stripping the threads.
