The VALUE COLLECTION 40051-C is a general purpose PTFE thread seal tape used to create leak-free threaded pipe connections in plumbing, HVAC, and gas piping applications. Made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), this white tape conforms to MIL-T-27730A military specification, indicating consistent density and tensile strength for reliable sealing performance. Each roll measures 0.5 inches wide and 520 inches long, providing substantial coverage per roll. The tape handles an operating range of -450 degrees F to 550 degrees F, making it appropriate for both cryogenic and high-temperature service lines. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians apply this tape as a standard part of threaded joint assembly.
This tape is suited for residential and commercial pipe installations wherever threaded fittings require a thread sealant. Typical applications include water supply lines, gas lines, compressed air systems, and steam or hydronic heating piping. It is applied directly to male threaded fittings before assembly and is compatible with metal and plastic pipe threads. The wide operating temperature range makes it appropriate for both hot and cold water service as well as refrigerant and gas line work. Sold individually per roll, with a minimum order quantity of 5 rolls.
Designed as a general purpose PTFE thread seal tape suitable for use on standard male threaded pipe fittings in plumbing, HVAC, gas piping, and compressed air systems.
PTFE thread seal tape is applied by plumbers and pipefitters as part of standard threaded joint assembly. Wrap the tape clockwise around the male threads, starting at the first thread, applying 2 to 3 layers with consistent tension. Follow applicable codes including the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) for thread sealant requirements on gas and water lines. Shut off and depressurize the affected line before disassembling any existing fittings prior to applying new tape.
