The VALUE COLLECTION 395-1328 is a Style D keyway broach manufactured from high speed steel (HSS), designed for cutting precision keyways in ferrous and non-ferrous metal workpieces. The broach measures 13-7/8 inches overall length with a 9/16 inch body width and cuts keyways 3/8 inch wide with a keyway width tolerance of 0.3765 inches. It supports cutting lengths ranging from 1 to 6 inches, making it suitable for a broad range of shaft and hub applications. The bright finish indicates an uncoated surface, standard for HSS broaches used in general machining operations. Two shims are required for proper setup and sizing.
This broach is used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and manufacturing environments where keyways must be cut or enlarged in pulleys, gears, sprockets, and hubs. It is typically operated with an arbor press or broaching machine. The Style D designation identifies the broach geometry and shim system, which determines compatibility with the appropriate push-type broaching setup. Applications span both production and repair work on ferrous metals such as steel and cast iron, as well as non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and brass.
Designed for use with push-type broaching machines and arbor presses that accept Style D keyway broaches. Compatible with ferrous and non-ferrous metal workpieces requiring a 3/8 inch keyway. Two shims are required and must be sourced separately if not included.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool and die technician using an arbor press or hydraulic broaching machine rated for the required push force. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and properly lubricated with cutting fluid before broaching to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Verify shim count and placement before each pass to maintain keyway width tolerance. Never exceed the rated cutting length capacity of the broach, and inspect the tool for chipping or wear before each use.
