The VALUE COLLECTION 38738 is a No. 12 pan head sheet metal screw designed for fastening light-gauge sheet metal, plastic housings, and similar thin-material assemblies. The slotted Phillips drive accepts both flat-blade and Phillips drivers, making it adaptable to common hand tools and power drivers found in HVAC, electrical, and general sheet metal work. The Type AB point self-pierces and thread-forms into pre-punched or pre-drilled holes without requiring a nut. The zinc-plated Grade 2 steel construction provides corrosion resistance for indoor and mild-environment applications. Sold in a 50-piece pack.
These screws are well-suited for ductwork assembly, equipment cabinet panels, electrical enclosures, junction box covers, and light structural sheet metal connections. The pan head profile sits low against the work surface and distributes clamping load across a wide bearing area, reducing the chance of pull-through in thin stock. At 0.75 inches length under head, the screw is appropriate for single- or double-layer light-gauge metal connections common in residential and light commercial HVAC and electrical installations. Installed by HVAC technicians, sheet metal workers, and electricians.
Designed as a standard No. 12 Type AB pan head sheet metal screw for use in light-gauge sheet metal, plastic, and similar thin-material fastening applications common in HVAC ductwork, electrical enclosures, and equipment panel assemblies.
Power down or de-energize any electrical enclosure or HVAC equipment before fastening or removing panel screws. A pre-punched or pre-drilled pilot hole is recommended for clean thread engagement with Type AB point screws. Use a Phillips or flat-blade screwdriver or driver bit sized for a No. 12 screw to avoid cam-out and head damage. Do not overtighten in thin-gauge stock, as stripping the formed thread will reduce holding strength.
