Product Description

The VALUE COLLECTION 375-1842 is a right-hand carbide-tipped boring bar designed for internal cylindrical boring operations on metalworking lathes and boring mills. It accepts a minimum bore diameter of 1-1/16 inches and reaches a maximum bore depth of 4-1/2 inches, making it suitable for through-bore and blind-bore work in medium to heavy stock removal. The shank measures 1 inch in diameter and the overall length is 6-1/2 inches. The C2 carbide-tipped insert grade provides good wear resistance and cutting performance on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and general-purpose steel. Machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople are the primary installers of this tooling.

This boring bar is used in manual and CNC turning centers, engine lathes, and horizontal boring mills where internal diameter finishing or roughing is required. It is suited for job shops, maintenance machining, and production environments handling ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The right-hand cutting direction means the tool feeds from right to left relative to the spindle, which is standard orientation for the majority of lathe setups. No special holders are required for a 1-inch shank diameter, as this is a common bore bar block and turret pocket size.

Key Features

  • C2 carbide-tipped cutting edge for wear resistance on cast iron and general-purpose metals
  • Minimum bore diameter of 1-1/16 inches suits a wide range of internal diameter work
  • Maximum bore depth of 4-1/2 inches allows deep internal cuts without tool change
  • 1-inch shank diameter fits standard boring bar holders and turret pockets
  • Right-hand cutting direction matches conventional lathe feed orientation
  • 6-1/2-inch overall length provides reach while maintaining rigidity

Compatibility

Designed as a standard replacement or addition for manual and CNC lathes and boring mills that accept 1-inch shank boring bars. Confirm minimum bore diameter clearance and turret or holder pocket size before installation.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the boring bar from the tool holder or turret pocket. Secure the shank firmly in the holder to the depth recommended by the machine manufacturer to minimize overhang and chatter. Inspect the carbide tip for chips or wear before each use; a damaged tip should be replaced before cutting to avoid workpiece damage or tool breakage.
