The VALUE COLLECTION 375-1656 is a right-hand carbide-tipped boring bar designed for internal diameter machining on lathes and boring mills. It accepts cuts starting at a minimum bore diameter of 0.5625 inches and reaches a maximum bore depth of 2.25 inches, making it well suited for medium-depth finishing and semi-finishing passes. The 3/4-inch shank diameter provides rigid tool holding in standard boring bar holders and quick-change toolpost systems. The C6 carbide-tipped insert grade balances wear resistance and toughness for general-purpose steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous applications. Machinists and toolroom operators install this bar in production and job-shop environments where consistent bore geometry is required.
This boring bar fits single-point internal turning operations on manual lathes, CNC turning centers, and horizontal boring mills. It is suited for residential machine shops, industrial production cells, and maintenance-repair-overhaul toolrooms. The right-hand cutting direction means material is removed with conventional right-to-left feed when viewed from the operator position. The 4.25-inch overall length leaves adequate shank engagement when boring to full depth, reducing deflection and chatter in the finished bore.
Designed as a standard replacement or supplemental boring bar for lathes and boring mills equipped with 3/4-inch boring bar holder pockets and requiring right-hand internal turning capability.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and the machine placed in a locked or e-stop condition before mounting or adjusting the boring bar. The shank should be clamped with sufficient holder engagement, typically a minimum of 1.5 times the shank diameter, to reduce overhang-related vibration. Verify bar centerline height alignment with the workpiece spindle centerline before taking the first cut.
