The VALUE COLLECTION 36965 is an unequal double threaded stud made from Grade 8 alloy steel with a yellow zinc dichromate finish. This fastener features two different thread pitches on a single shank — a 3/8-16 (UNC) short end and a 3/8-24 (UNF) long end — allowing it to bridge applications where coarse and fine thread interfaces must mate. The overall length is 1.5 inches, with a short thread length of 0.5 inches, a long thread length of 0.75 inches, and an unthreaded shank of 0.25 inches. Sold in a pack of 25, this stud is suited for mechanical assembly, HVAC equipment mounting, and other trade fastening applications requiring mixed-thread engagement.
Unequal double threaded studs are used in residential and commercial mechanical systems where a permanent or semi-permanent threaded connection is needed between two components with dissimilar thread standards. Common applications include equipment mounting, manifold assembly, and structural fastening in HVAC, plumbing, and general mechanical trade work. The Grade 8 material rating indicates high tensile strength suitable for moderate-to-high load fastening environments. The yellow zinc dichromate finish provides corrosion resistance appropriate for indoor mechanical environments.
Designed as a standard 3/8-inch unequal double threaded stud for general mechanical fastening applications requiring both UNC and UNF thread engagement in a single fastener.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed mechanic, HVAC technician, or plumber using a stud driver or appropriately sized hex socket. Power down and de-energize any equipment before fastener service. Ensure mating threads are clean and free of debris before engagement. Do not cross-thread; the short end (3/8-16 coarse) and long end (3/8-24 fine) are not interchangeable and must be oriented to match the correct receiving thread.
