The VALUE COLLECTION 367-0642 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original specification. Built from high-speed steel, it delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for repeated use on fasteners and threaded rod in demanding shop or field conditions. The die cuts a 1-12 UNF right-hand thread profile and measures 1 inch thick, making it compatible with standard hex die stocks. Machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians reach for rethreading dies when a bolt, stud, or threaded shaft has picked up corrosion, impact damage, or paint buildup that prevents proper nut engagement.
This die is suited for maintenance and repair operations across industrial, mechanical, and trade environments. It is a practical addition to any thread-restoration kit used on machinery, hydraulic assemblies, structural fasteners, or equipment frames where 1-12 UNF threads are specified. The right-hand thread direction covers the vast majority of standard fastener applications. It is intended for use by experienced machinists and trade professionals working in shop settings or on-site repair scenarios where thread chasers and dies are part of the standard tool inventory.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement-grade hex rethreading die for use in standard hex die stocks that accept 1-inch-thick dies with a 1-12 UNF thread profile.
Rethreading dies are installed and driven by a licensed machinist or qualified tradesperson using a compatible hex die stock. Secure the workpiece firmly before engaging the die to prevent movement during cutting. Apply cutting oil liberally to the die and workpiece threads throughout the operation to reduce heat buildup and extend die life. Never force a rethreading die over severely deformed threads in a single pass — make progressive passes to avoid cracking the die or further damaging the workpiece.
