The VALUE COLLECTION 367-0561 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original specification. Sized for 7/8-9 thread geometry, it conforms to the Unified National Coarse (UNC) standard and cuts in a right-hand direction. The die is manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS), which provides the hardness and wear resistance needed to rethread fasteners made from mild steel, iron, and similar materials. Weighing 0.5 pounds, it is compact enough for use in the field or on the bench. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and general tradespeople use this type of die when bolt or rod threads are stripped, galled, or rusted beyond reliable use.
This rethreading die is suited for maintenance and repair work across industrial, commercial, and mechanical service environments. Apply cutting oil or thread-cutting lubricant to the workpiece before use to reduce heat buildup and extend die life. Secure the workpiece firmly before engaging the die to prevent movement during cutting. Start the die squarely on the thread axis to avoid cross-threading. This operation does not require electrical power, but appropriate eye protection and gloves should be worn when handling metal shavings.
