The VALUE COLLECTION 366-1341 is a hex rethreading die designed to clean and restore damaged or corroded external threads. Built from carbon steel, this die handles 2-12 thread size in a left-hand thread direction to the UNS thread standard. Rethreading dies like this one are used when a fastener or threaded rod has sustained impact damage, rust buildup, or cross-threading that prevents proper nut engagement. The hex body allows use with a standard wrench or die stock for controlled torque during the rethreading operation.
This die is suited for maintenance, repair, and fabrication work across mechanical, industrial, and trade applications. Left-hand thread configuration makes it appropriate for applications where counter-rotation forces would loosen a standard right-hand fastener, such as certain rotating shaft assemblies, left-side wheel hardware, or specialty mechanical linkages. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this type of rethreading die.
Designed as a rethreading die for 2-12 left-hand UNS external threads on fasteners, threaded rods, and similar hardware. Verify thread standard and direction against the fastener specification before use.
A licensed machinist or qualified maintenance technician should perform rethreading operations. Secure the workpiece firmly before applying the die to prevent movement during operation. Apply cutting fluid to the die and workpiece to reduce friction and extend die life. Inspect the die for wear or chipping before each use, as a damaged die can further degrade the thread being restored.
