The VALUE COLLECTION 365-2327 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original specification. Built from carbon steel, it cuts a 2-1/2-16 thread profile in the right-hand direction per the UNS (Unified National Special) thread standard. Rethreading dies like this one are used by plumbers, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics to salvage threaded fittings, rods, and fasteners rather than replacing them outright. The hex body allows engagement with a standard die stock or wrench for controlled torque during the rethreading operation.
This die is suited for maintenance and repair work on 2-1/2-inch diameter threaded components with a 16 threads-per-inch pitch. Typical applications include restoring pipe threads, threaded rod ends, and large-diameter fasteners found in mechanical, plumbing, and industrial piping systems. It is a practical shop and field tool for trades that regularly service aging or damaged threaded connections.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement-grade rethreading die for use on external threaded components with a 2-1/2-16 UNS right-hand thread profile.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified mechanics, pipefitters, or plumbers familiar with threading operations. Always clean the damaged threads and apply cutting oil before running the die to extend tool life and produce a clean thread form. Secure the workpiece firmly before applying torque to the die. Inspect the restored thread with a mating nut or fitting before returning the component to service.
