The VALUE COLLECTION 365-2325 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads on fasteners, pipe fittings, and threaded rod. It cuts a 2-1/2-8 thread form to the UNS (Unified National Standard) thread standard in a right-hand direction. Built from carbon steel, this die delivers the hardness needed to chase and restore threads on common mild steel and iron fasteners. Plumbers, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics reach for rethreading dies when field-damaged threads need to be brought back to spec without full fastener replacement.
This die is suited for maintenance, repair, and overhaul work in industrial, commercial, and heavy-trade settings. The 2-1/2-8 thread size makes it applicable to large-diameter fasteners and threaded components common in structural, piping, and mechanical assembly work. The hex body design accepts a standard die stock or adjustable wrench for manual operation, making it practical for both shop and field use.
Designed as an OEM-style rethreading die for use on external threads conforming to the 2-1/2-8 UNS right-hand thread standard, typical in large-diameter fastener and mechanical assembly applications.
Rethreading dies are installed and operated by mechanics, pipefitters, and maintenance trades. Before use, clean the damaged thread area of debris, rust, and burrs using a wire brush or file. Apply cutting oil to the die and the workpiece to reduce heat and improve cut quality. Turn the die stock steadily and back off periodically to clear chips and prevent binding.
