The VALUE COLLECTION 365-1368 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads without requiring full part replacement. Sized for a 1-9/16-18 thread profile and machined from carbon steel, this die cuts in a right-hand direction to match standard fastener threads. At 1 inch thick, it provides enough contact length to clean and recut threads reliably. Machinists, mechanics, and maintenance technicians use rethreading dies to recover threaded shafts, bolts, and fittings that have sustained thread damage from impact, corrosion, or cross-threading.
This die is suited for shop and field maintenance applications where restoring an existing thread is more practical than replacing the component. The 1-9/16-18 UNEF (Unified Extra Fine) specification makes it appropriate for work on finely threaded fasteners and precision assemblies common in mechanical, hydraulic, and industrial maintenance environments. Ensure the workpiece is secure and properly deburred before starting the die to avoid cross-threading. Apply cutting oil to the die and workpiece throughout the operation to reduce heat and extend die life. Follow applicable shop safety practices and any relevant facility maintenance standards when working on pressurized or load-bearing components.
