The VALUE COLLECTION 365-1086 is a hex rethreading die used to restore damaged or corroded external threads on fasteners, fittings, and threaded stock. It cuts a 1-1/8-18 UNEF right-hand thread and fits a 2-inch hex socket or wrench for driven operation. The die measures 1 inch thick and is machined from carbon steel for durability in rethreading applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and maintenance mechanics keep rethreading dies on hand to salvage threaded components without full replacement.
This die is suited for field and shop use wherever 1-1/8-18 UNEF external threads need to be chased or restored. Common applications include rethreading hydraulic fittings, valve stems, threaded rod, and pipe nipples. The right-hand thread direction matches the standard fastening direction used in the majority of plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical assemblies. The 2-inch hex drive allows use with a standard adjustable wrench, hex wrench, or ratchet-mounted hex socket.
Designed for use on external threaded stock, fasteners, and fittings with a 1-1/8-18 UNEF right-hand thread specification.
Rethreading dies are typically used by mechanics, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians during maintenance and repair operations. Secure the workpiece in a vise before applying the die to prevent movement during threading. Apply cutting oil to the die and workpiece to reduce friction and extend die life. Advance the die slowly in short increments and back off periodically to clear chips.
