The VALUE COLLECTION 365-1052 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads without replacing the fastener or fitting. Built from carbon steel, this die handles 5/8-20 UNS thread profiles with a right-hand thread direction. It is used by plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, and general maintenance mechanics to clean up stripped threads on bolts, studs, and pipe fittings during service and repair work. The hex body shape allows standard wrench or socket drive for controlled torque application in tight spaces.
This rethreading die is suited for repair work on residential and commercial mechanical systems where 5/8-20 right-hand threaded fasteners and fittings are encountered. Typical applications include field repair of damaged bolt threads on equipment mounting hardware, valve stems, and threaded rod. It is a single-piece tool packaged individually, making it a straightforward addition to a service technician's thread-repair kit.
Designed as a rethreading die for external 5/8-20 UNS right-hand threaded fasteners and fittings encountered in general mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service applications.
Thread repair with a rethreading die is performed by licensed or journeyman-level tradespeople as part of equipment service. De-energize and isolate any system before working on threaded components. Apply cutting oil or thread lubricant to the die and the workpiece before starting to reduce heat and extend die life. Run the die slowly onto the damaged thread, backing off periodically to clear chips, and never force the die past resistance.
