The VALUE COLLECTION 365-1047 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original specification. Built from carbon steel, it handles the mechanical demands of chasing and cleaning threads on bolts, studs, and fittings without removing material the way a standard cutting die would. The 9/16-20 thread size follows the UNS thread standard with a right-hand thread direction. Machinists, mechanics, and trade professionals use rethreading dies when a fastener or fitting threads are too far gone to clean with a wire brush alone but the base material is still serviceable.
This die suits repair and maintenance work across mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC applications wherever 9/16-20 UNS right-hand external threads appear. Common scenarios include restoring threads on hydraulic fittings, flare nuts, and fasteners exposed to corrosion, cross-threading, or impact damage. It fits into a standard hex die holder or wrench, making field use practical without a bench-mounted die stock.
Designed as an OEM-style rethreading die for use on external 9/16-20 UNS right-hand threaded fasteners and fittings in mechanical and trade service applications.
Thread rethreading dies are typically used by mechanics, machinists, and licensed trade technicians performing fastener repair. Before use, de-energize or depressurize any system the fastener is part of. Apply cutting oil or thread lubricant to the die and the fastener to reduce friction and extend die life. Turn the die slowly with steady, controlled pressure — back off periodically to clear debris and avoid overloading the threads.
