The VALUE COLLECTION 365-1040 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original specification. It cuts a 1/2-12 UNS thread profile with a right-hand direction, making it a practical field tool for mechanics, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals who need to salvage threaded fasteners, bolts, or fittings without full replacement. Constructed from carbon steel, this die delivers the hardness needed to cut through rust, burrs, and minor thread deformation on standard fastener materials.
This rethreading die is suited for use in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) applications across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general mechanical trades. It is used wherever a 1/2-12 UNS right-hand external thread needs to be cleaned up or restored on a bolt, rod, or fitting. The hex body allows a standard wrench or rethreading die holder to drive the tool with controlled torque, making it practical for both shop and field use.
Designed for rethreading external 1/2-12 UNS right-hand threads on bolts, rods, and fittings in general MRO and trade applications.
Rethreading dies are typically used by licensed tradespeople and maintenance technicians performing thread restoration on existing fasteners or fittings. Before use, ensure the workpiece is secured and that any associated system is de-energized, depressurized, or shut off as required by the application. Apply cutting oil to the die and the workpiece thread to reduce friction and extend die life. Work the die slowly onto the damaged thread, backing off periodically to clear chips and avoid binding.
