The VALUE COLLECTION 365-1028 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original specification. Built from carbon steel, this die handles 3/8-32 thread size to the UNEF (Unified Extra Fine) standard and cuts in the right-hand direction. Rethreading dies like this one are used by technicians to clean up bolt threads, fitting threads, or threaded rod ends that have been stripped, rusted, or cross-threaded, saving the fastener or fitting rather than replacing it. The hex body allows a standard tap wrench or die stock to drive the tool securely.
This die is suited for general mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical trade work wherever 3/8-32 UNEF external threads need to be chased or restored. It is appropriate for use on fasteners and fittings found in light-gauge equipment, instrumentation, and precision mechanical assemblies that use extra-fine thread pitch. Trades including HVAC technicians, plumbers, and electricians will encounter this thread size on equipment panels, valve stems, and control hardware.
Designed as an OEM-style rethreading die for use on 3/8-32 UNEF right-hand external threads across general mechanical and trade applications.
This tool is installed and operated by hand using a tap wrench or appropriately sized die stock. Before rethreading, clean the fastener or fitting of debris and apply cutting oil to the die and workpiece to reduce friction and extend tool life. Apply steady, even pressure and back the die off periodically to clear chips. Follow all applicable shop safety practices when working with cutting tools.
