The VALUE COLLECTION 365-0078 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads on fasteners and threaded rod. Built from carbon steel, it handles the mechanical demands of cleaning and reforming UNC 12-24 threads in the field or shop. The hex body allows standard wrench or die stock engagement for controlled torque application. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals reach for rethreading dies when a bolt or stud has thread damage that would otherwise require full replacement of the fastener or the parent component.
This die is suited for repair work on 12-24 UNC threaded fasteners found in light mechanical assemblies, HVAC equipment panels, electrical enclosures, and general trade applications. The right-hand thread direction matches the standard orientation used in the vast majority of fastener applications. It is appropriate for bench use or in-place field repairs where thread chasing is needed to restore fit and function without cutting new threads.
Designed for use on 12-24 UNC right-hand threaded fasteners and threaded rod in general mechanical, trade, and maintenance applications.
Rethreading dies are typically used by machinists, maintenance technicians, or licensed trade professionals performing repair work. Before use, clean debris and corrosion from the damaged thread area as thoroughly as possible. Apply a cutting or threading oil to the fastener and die to reduce friction and extend die life. Do not force the die past resistance — back off periodically to clear chips and prevent die damage.
