The VALUE COLLECTION 363-7040 is a parallel-style cutoff blade designed for parting and grooving operations on lathes and other turning equipment. Ground from M35 cobalt high-speed steel, this blade offers increased heat resistance and wear life compared to standard M2 HSS tooling, making it a reliable choice for harder workpiece materials and interrupted cuts. The bright finish is left uncoated, allowing machinists to inspect the blade geometry directly. It measures 5/32 inches wide, 11/16 inches high, and 5 inches in overall length, fitting standard blade-type toolholders used in production and job-shop machining environments. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC lathe operators are the primary users.
This cutoff blade is suited for use on manual engine lathes and CNC turning centers where a blade-style parting tool is required. The parallel profile maintains a consistent width from tip to shank, supporting straight parting cuts and narrow grooving applications. It is appropriate for use on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces, with the M35 cobalt grade providing added durability when cutting alloy steels, stainless steels, and other tough materials at moderate cutting speeds. The Industry Standard Number P4 designation indicates the blade class, which aligns with common blade-type toolholder specifications.
Designed for use in standard blade-type toolholders that accept a 5/32-inch wide by 11/16-inch high parallel cutoff blade, consistent with the P4 industry standard classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lockout the lathe or turning center before seating or adjusting the blade in the toolholder. Ensure the blade is clamped securely with the cutting edge set at centerline height before resuming operation. Do not overhang the blade beyond the minimum required for the cut, as excessive extension reduces rigidity and increases the risk of blade breakage.
