The VALUE COLLECTION 34281 is a nylon insert hex lock nut designed to resist loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. Manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish, this fastener provides corrosion resistance suitable for general-purpose applications. The nylon insert creates interference with the mating thread to maintain clamping force without requiring adhesive or secondary locking hardware. At 0.25 inches in height with a 0.375-inch width across flats, it follows a right-hand UNF thread direction. Installation and removal require standard hex tooling. This nut is a common hardware item used by mechanical contractors, HVAC installers, electricians, and plumbers wherever vibration-resistant fastening is required.
This nylon insert hex lock nut is suited for light- to medium-duty fastening tasks across residential and commercial mechanical systems. Typical applications include equipment mounting, panel assembly, piping support brackets, and electrical enclosure hardware. The UNF thread standard makes it compatible with inch-series fastener assemblies. The zinc plating offers baseline protection in dry to moderately humid indoor environments. It is not rated for high-temperature zones where nylon insert integrity may be compromised.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard hardware component for use with inch-series UNF threaded fastener assemblies in general mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified tradesperson using a properly sized hex wrench or socket. Ensure the mating bolt and nut are free of debris before assembly to avoid cross-threading the nylon insert. Do not reuse nylon insert lock nuts after removal, as the insert loses clamping effectiveness once it has been seated and torqued. Follow applicable mechanical codes and equipment manufacturer specifications for fastener torque requirements.
