The VALUE COLLECTION 34272 is a 1/4-20 UNC hex lock nut with a nylon insert locking mechanism, manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish. The nylon insert creates interference with the mating thread, resisting loosening from vibration and torque without damaging the fastener. At 19/64 inches high and 7/16 inches across the flats, this nut fits standard 1/4-20 threaded rod, bolts, and studs. The zinc plating provides light corrosion resistance in general indoor and sheltered applications. Right-hand thread direction follows standard UNC convention. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general mechanical contractors use this fastener type daily in panel, equipment, and structural assembly work.
This nut is suited for light-duty fastening applications across residential and commercial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations. Common uses include securing components to threaded rod, mounting brackets, panel hardware, and equipment frames where vibration resistance is required. The 1/4-20 UNC thread is one of the most widely used coarse-thread sizes in North American trade work, making this nut compatible with a broad range of bolts, machine screws, and all-thread rod in that size.
Designed for use with standard 1/4-20 UNC right-hand threaded bolts, machine screws, and threaded rod in general mechanical and trade fastening applications.
A licensed or qualified trade professional should install fasteners in accordance with applicable mechanical, electrical, or plumbing codes for the jurisdiction. Power down or de-energize any equipment before working in energized panels or enclosures. Use a calibrated torque wrench when a specific torque value is specified by the equipment manufacturer for the assembly. Nylon insert lock nuts are generally single-use — once the nylon has been compressed by threading, locking effectiveness is reduced if the nut is reused.
