The VALUE COLLECTION 33665 is a 1/2-13 UNC hex socket cap screw designed for secure mechanical fastening in industrial, commercial, and trade applications. Manufactured from alloy steel with a black oxide finish, this screw delivers high tensile strength and moderate corrosion resistance. It measures 1-3/4 inches in length under the head and is driven with a 3/8-inch hex key. The fully threaded shank engages the entire fastener length, maximizing thread engagement in through-hole and tapped-hole assemblies. It conforms to ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM A574 standards, making it a recognized specification fastener for structural and mechanical assembly work.
This cap screw is suited for machinery assembly, structural steel connections, equipment mounting, and general mechanical fabrication where a recessed hex drive is required. The 1/2-13 UNC thread form is a coarse-thread standard widely used in steel-to-steel and steel-to-aluminum assemblies across manufacturing, HVAC equipment framing, plumbing equipment supports, and electrical enclosure fabrication. The black oxide coating reduces galling and provides a low-reflectance finish appropriate for exposed mechanical components.
Designed as a standard 1/2-13 UNC hex socket cap screw per ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM A574, compatible with any tapped or through-hole assembly using a 1/2-13 coarse-thread specification.
Installation is performed with a 3/8-inch hex key or Allen-type driver; use of a calibrated torque wrench is recommended to achieve proper clamp load without overstressing the fastener. Ensure mating threads are clean, free of debris, and properly tapped to 1/2-13 UNC specification before installation. De-energize, lock out, and tag out any equipment before fastener service on live machinery per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Do not exceed the rated proof load for this fastener class.
