The VALUE COLLECTION 324370BR is a heavy hex nut sized 1-1/2-6 UNC, manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a hot-dipped galvanized finish. Heavy hex nuts feature a wider across-flats dimension and greater height than standard hex nuts, providing increased bearing surface and improved resistance to loosening under load. The hot-dipped galvanized coating delivers corrosion protection suitable for outdoor, structural, and moisture-exposed applications. This nut is threaded right-hand with a Unified National Coarse thread form, making it compatible with standard UNC fastener assemblies. Plumbers, electricians, pipefitters, HVAC installers, and general trade contractors use heavy hex nuts in structural connections, pipe hanger assemblies, equipment mounting, and anchor bolt applications.
This heavy hex nut is used in residential and commercial construction, mechanical rooms, equipment pads, structural steel connections, and utility installations where larger fastener engagement and galvanized corrosion resistance are required. The 1-1/2-6 UNC thread size is commonly found in anchor bolt assemblies, large flange connections, and pipe support structures. The hot-dipped galvanized finish makes it well suited for exterior installations and treated-lumber contact applications.
Designed for use with 1-1/2-6 UNC threaded fasteners including bolts, anchor bolts, and threaded rod conforming to the Unified National Coarse thread standard.
Installation is performed by hand tradespeople using standard or heavy-duty hex wrenches, impact wrenches, or torque wrenches sized for 2-3/8 inch across flats. Apply thread lubricant or anti-seize compound where required by application or specification. Follow applicable building codes and structural engineering specifications for torque and fastener requirements. Inspect the galvanized coating for damage before installation; compromised coating can reduce corrosion protection in exposed applications.
