The VALUE COLLECTION 32169 is a Grade 5 steel carriage bolt with a standard square neck and a zinc-plated finish. It is threaded to a 1/2-13 UNC specification with a 2.25-inch length under head. The square neck seats firmly into wood or soft material to prevent rotation during installation, eliminating the need for a backup wrench on the bolt head. The zinc plating provides a baseline level of corrosion resistance suitable for general indoor and light-duty outdoor fastening applications. This bolt is used by tradespeople and contractors for structural and mechanical assembly work.
This carriage bolt is suited for wood-to-wood, wood-to-metal, and light structural connections in residential and commercial construction, equipment mounting, and general fabrication. The 1/2-13 UNC coarse thread is compatible with standard 1/2-13 hex nuts and washers. Applications include framing connections, fence and deck assembly, equipment frames, and utility installations where a flush or domed head profile is required on the bearing face.
Designed as a general-purpose carriage bolt compatible with standard 1/2-13 UNC hex nuts, flat washers, and lock washers used in wood and light structural fastening applications.
Installation is typically performed by carpenters, ironworkers, or general tradespeople using standard hand tools. Insert the bolt through a pre-drilled hole sized to allow the square neck to seat flush, then tighten the nut from the threaded end with a wrench. Do not apply torque to the domed head. Follow applicable building codes for minimum edge distance and fastener spacing in structural assemblies.
