The VALUE COLLECTION 320-3728 is a single-end ball end mill designed for milling, profiling, and contouring operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter with a 1-1/2 inch length of cut and a 4-flute configuration, making it well-suited for achieving smooth surface finishes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Constructed from high speed steel (HSS), it delivers reliable performance in moderate cutting conditions. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the tool in its as-ground state for applications where coating is not required. Machine operators, tool and die makers, and CNC machinists typically select this tool for general-purpose milling work.
This ball end mill is appropriate for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC milling machines performing 3D contouring, slot milling, and profile work. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand spiral flute geometry are standard for conventional and climb milling passes. With an overall length of 3-1/4 inches and a 3/8 inch shank diameter, it fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found in job shops and production facilities. It is classified as a long-length tool, providing additional reach compared to standard-length end mills of the same diameter.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock ball end mill compatible with standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, ER collet systems, and side-lock holders used in vertical and CNC milling machines.
This end mill is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician using an appropriately sized collet or end mill holder. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the control placed in an e-stop or lock-out state before changing tooling. Verify runout at the tool tip after installation to prevent premature wear or breakage. Follow the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for HSS tooling based on the workpiece material.
